Tour Information
This waterfront city, once called Portus Cale, originated in the Roman Empire as a trading port. Today, Porto shares its name with its world–famous commodity, Port Wine. You can still see the long, bowed boats filled with grape barrels, transported upriver to the cellars near the estuary. This lively city is perfect for exploring on foot, by river, or from a tasting room.
During your Porto Private Tour, we’ll stop for lunch near the tasting rooms across the river from Porto, allowing you time to enjoy the view.
Your tour starts uptown at Carmo Church and Clérigos Tower. From here, it’s an easy walk downhill through charming neighborhoods to the historic center, with its many monuments, ending near the riverfront. The itinerary includes São Bento Train Station, the 12th-century Cathedral, and more. For lunch, we’ll take you to a Port Wine cellar across the river for a view of Porto’s iconic waterfront. Lunch options are at your discretion (not included) and will be followed by a premium Port Wine tasting. At the end of the day, we’ll drive you back to your hotel in Porto.
Other day trips from Porto are available, including tours to the Douro River Valley, the medieval towns of Braga and Guimarães, Coimbra’s “City of Knowledge,” and more.
