The new Cruise Terminal of the Port of Leixões was distinguished with another award being elected the architecture ‘Best Public Project’ by “Construir 2016”, a key event in the construction sector in Portugal. This is the second time in a row that our new Cruise Terminal is distinguished by its excellence. Last year, it had been distinguished as the Best Engineering Project.

At the same time, the Porto Cruise Terminal was also shortlisted for the world’s largest awards programme in international architecture “WAN Awards 2016” in Transport and Waterfront category. “WAN Awards 2016” is judged by an extensive panel of top international experts, which already have considered our Cruise Terminal as an amazing, ambitious and an exemplary building. Winners will be announced on the 1st of November.

Since its opening, the new Cruise Terminal of the Port of Leixões has been claiming its reputation among national and international juries and these awards reinforces the architectural excellence of such emblematic building in the country and in the world.

Designed by the Portuguese architect Luis Pedro Silva and built 700 meters from the coast, the Porto Cruise Terminal has been adding several international recognitions and awards. In 2015, it was considered the ‘Best Port of the Year’ by Seatrade Awards and this year it was distinguished by ‘AZAwards’ a prestigious Canadian competition that every year distinguishes the best in the world in architecture and contemporary design.
