Sagres
The name “Sagres,” meaning “Sacred,” reflects the area’s historical significance as a site of important religious rituals during Greek, Phoenician, and Roman times. It was believed to be a gathering place for their gods. Today, Sagres is synonymous with the southernmost point of Portugal and the Age of Discoveries. It was here that Prince Henry the Navigator established his first nautical school.
