Welcome to the region of Espumante, Portugal’s answer to Champagne. The Bairrada wine region offers a mild climate and excellent soil, producing exceptional sparkling wines, rich reds, and delicate aromatic whites.
Some cellars are carved directly into the rock, where thousands of bottles patiently age for years, waiting to become part of a celebration. This region is also famous for its cuisine, attracting Portuguese families who drive here specifically to enjoy its traditional dishes.
For lunch, you can choose between savoring a traditional dish at one of the many excellent village restaurants or dining at the Bussaco Palace Hotel, a 19th-century architectural masterpiece.
